Mycopunk Weapon Tier List: Ranked for Threat 1 Through 7
Mycopunk's 2.0.3 weapon tier list ranked by what each gun can clear, not raw damage, with the deciding upgrade.
A tier list that ranks weapons by damage number is useless in Mycopunk, because damage is the part your grid supplies. What separates weapons is how well they convert cells into damage — and that depends on fire rate, range band, area coverage and whether the weapon fights the way the game's threat levels are designed.
Rankings below are for patch 2.0.3, solo unless stated.
The list
| Tier | Weapons | What the tier means |
|---|---|---|
| S | Cycler, Gunship Cannon, Trident S2 | Worth building a whole board around |
| A | Shocklance, Globbler, Carver, G6 Street Sweeper | Best in class at one job |
| B | Swarm Launcher, AU-SI Jackrabbit, Accelerator, A16 Beam Ripper, DMLR | Good with the right team, mediocre alone |
| C | Lead Flinger, Laser Cannon, The Last Argument | Outclassed by something cheaper |
| D | FR.15833 Plate Launcher | Broken in co-op by a live bug |
S tier
The Cycler. 700 RPM means every per-shot upgrade procs eleven times more often than on a heavy. Diffraction Driver adds a cone, elemental reloads answer modifier weeks, and the whole package costs less board space than any other S-tier option. It is the single best weapon in the game for rooms.
Gunship Cannon. 2.0.3 changed Prism so its stats scale meaningfully with pattern size. That turned an already-solid area weapon into the best large-board payoff in the game: the bigger your grid, the more the cannon gives back. It is the only weapon that rewards the thing you are already doing.
Trident S2. Precision single-target, and the reason boss fights at Deadly+ are winnable without a support. It is not a room weapon; it is a delete button with a lean build.
A tier
Shocklance. Highest burst in the game on a stationary target, and the charge time is the entire cost. A Bruiser holding aggro turns it into S-tier; solo, the charge window gets you killed.
Globbler. Lobbed area damage that ignores cover. Best in class in Fog and in vertical arenas, unremarkable in open flats.
Carver. Health chunks plus Sharing Lunch — which finally heals allies after the 2.0.2 fix. Not a damage pick; a co-op enabler that also shoots.
G6 Street Sweeper. Highest close-range burst in its slot, and the worst weapon in the game at 30 metres. Ranked A because the build that supports it (Bruiser + cube cover) is reliable above Deadly.
B tier
Swarm Launcher — great area, poor single-target, and the game's bosses are single-target. AU-SI Jackrabbit — does not fight your movement, which matters on Glider and Wrangler, but its ceiling is low. Accelerator — highest theoretical DPS, lowest floor. Accuracy-dependent in a game where half the enemies charge you. A16 Beam Ripper — sustained beam, excellent uptime, but it pins you in place. DMLR — the only healing primary. A B-tier weapon that makes an S-tier team.
C tier
Lead Flinger — a spread rifle with worse uptime than the Cycler and no Diffraction Driver. Fine for the first two hours.
Laser Cannon — long-range burst is a niche the game does not really have; most fights happen inside its ideal band anyway.
The Last Argument — a finisher that competes with weapons that also do the killing.
D tier
FR.15833 Plate Launcher. Solo it is a B. In co-op, the plate recall bug (unfixed in 2.0.3 for players joining a run in progress) means your plates sometimes do not come back. A weapon that randomly stops working is not a weapon.
How the ranking changes by threat
| Threat | Best picks | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Safe → Risky | Anything | Nothing threatens you; use the time to level |
| Perilous → Treacherous | Cycler, Lead Flinger | Fast weapons level fastest |
| Deadly | Cycler, Gunship | First threat where area coverage matters |
| Onslaught | Gunship, Street Sweeper, Carver | Swarm density rewards cones |
| Predicament | Trident, Shocklance + a Bruiser | Single-target burst behind a wall |
The pattern: low threat rewards speed, high threat rewards either area or a dedicated killer. The Cycler is the only weapon that appears in every row, which is why it is the top of the list.
Weapons that got better in 2.0.x
- Gunship Cannon —
Prismscaling (2.0.3). - Carver —
Sharing Lunchhealing fixed (2.0.2). - Cycler — indirect winner from the 2.0.2 infusion rescale, since large-pattern infusion benefits fast weapons most.
- Glider-adjacent weapons —
Star Fuelno longer reduces fly duration, which makes damage-for-flight loops viable.
Weapons that got worse
- Plate Launcher — the multiplayer recall bug remains.
- Any heavy on a mobility build — the 2.0.2 removal of enemy intensity buttons means threat level is now the only difficulty lever, and threat is a positioning problem, not a damage problem.
FAQ
What is the best weapon for a beginner? The Cycler. It is the starting weapon and it remains top-tier, which is rare in this genre.
Is the Trident S2 good outside bosses? Usable, not good. Its value is concentrated in short windows against one target.
Why is DMLR ranked so low if co-op needs it? Because it is a support tool ranked against damage weapons. In a team tier list it moves to A.
Will this list change with the next patch? Probably. The 2.0.x line has shipped a balance patch per day, and the meta page tracks what each one moved.
